Dr. Rodney Mugarura is a recent graduate from Makerere University’s Orthopaedic training program and the first surgeon supported as a USTOP – Global Partners in Anesthesia and Surgery (GPAS) Senior Fellow. In this role,Rodney assists in teaching for and spearheads research initiatives.

Successful surgeries require a strong team. USTOP has partnered with the Canadian Network for International Surgery to provide Ugandan colleagues with the perioperative nursing course “Safe Surgery Save Lives”.
Learning in a controlled environment provides young surgeons with an opportunity to develop foundational skills for their future practice. USTOP holds basic and advanced bioskills courses twice annually with partners from Mulago Hospital and Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
